    Toyota's powertrain warranty is only 60K. Plus they are offering free maintenance for the first two years. Toyota now has a huge incentive to minimize maintenance costs even if it isn't ideal for engine longevity. Something to keep in mind.

    Guess not, I did a search to get a specific answer and didn't see what I liked. But, I suppose it was worthy enough to get a post out of ya....;)

    Yes. I ran/run Mobil1 Extended Performance 0w-30 in my truck in Alaska's interior where temps get freakin' cold. Anything helps. I'll do it again in October. (I'm currently running manuf. spec 5w-30 Extended and I'll be ready to change it out in a couple more months and 3000 more miles.

    It's an 89 Toyota Pickup. I got some stuff done to it.. FJ axles going under it soon.
    I run Castrol 5W-30 through my 2RZ..and my father is the original owner of the truck when he had it..bought it from him with 89k on it..it ran Castrol all it's life.

    I do oil change about every 3000-3500 miles though, mainly because I beat on the truck alot harder then some people..

    I put 2000 miles alone on my truck every month just from school.
    Another 700 or so leisure miles a month also..so I do an oil change every month almost.

    156k on the clock,

    Oil = $13
    Filter = $4

    $17 oil changes and no problem with the motor yet:D

    I also use Castrol 5W-30 in my Tacoma using a stock oil filter at Toyota. I have always changed the oil every 5000 miles in all my cars. I've been using Castrol for years & had no issues at all. Great price at Walmart for about 13 bucks for a 5 quart jug, cant go wrong there.:D
