I wouldn't, it's a friction modifier. I don't know definitively if it would hurt anything but I wouldn't risk it.

That was me, I didn't catch the manual transmission part

I was going to yell at you to not put gear oil in your transmission, sorry!

Well, you also told me not to use gear oil in the first place. :p

I'd just like to use synthetic, and this is the only 75W90 synthetic i've found around here, but you have a good point.

    Maybe chris4x4 will chime in.

Yeah, I'm gonna go and try to get my foot out of my mouth  Sorry I missed the manual transmission part, but I would be concerned about the friction modifier. Wait for Chris!

My local Subaru dealer surprisingly has shelves choke full of AMSOil fluids. Maybe they are trying to appeal to the STi crowd. Can't hurt to give your local Subaru dealer parts counter a ring.

Also, the manual does say API GL-4 or API GL-5, and this mobil-1 with LSD additive says it exceeds GL-5 specifications...

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
The friction modifier might not be good for the synchros.

Amsoil severe gear is great (past experience).

The gear oil that says, for example "75-90 LS" means its safe in an LS Diff.....It doesnt mean it has the friction modifier in it. Mobil 1 doesnt have the addative in it, but simply uses the "LS" to state it is safe to use in all diffs.

Well, I went ahead and did it, so I hope Chris is right! I'm assuming/hoping that with LSD additive or not, GL-5 spec oil is GL-5 spec oil.

Quick test run didn't have it shitting itself at least!
