Another UltraGauge thread (mpg's)

I received my UG about 1 week ago. I've calibrated distance and in the process of calibrating fuel gauges. Just tring to find out how accurate everyone elses UG was from the start. I mean it should be in the right ballpark from the get go right? doing like 45-50mph on flat road it can show over 30mpg.

I'm running 265/75/16 and when i calibrated distance it showed a difference of 1.042.... so thats pretty dead on.does that sound right? I used a GPS

 

Mine was a little ways off from the factory but still in the right ball park. I never calibrated the distance, only the fuel. I reset it, filled up, entered the number of gallons and it adjusted everything.

 

so doing that one time actually makes a big difference? It feels like i'm on the never ending tank of gas. Even if the UG is off on mpg's, do you think that it is sill accurate in the sence of better or worse mpg's for what i'm doing or how i'm driving?

I think I know what you mean and yes, it show you how your driving relates to MPG's. If you really give it hell, the MPG's will be way down and if you baby it, the MPG's will read high. So although it won't be 100% accurate, it'll at least show you what works and what doesn't.

 

Yeah, you got was i was asking. I knew it did in drastic changes, just wan't sure about fine speed diffeneces or a small changes in acceleration.

Whippersnapper02, I do th same as well. just didn't know about the instant aspect of it.

 

Heh, it is fun to pull out, mash the skinny pedal and see how low you can get the instantaneous MPG to go. So far my all time low is mid 2's

 

I'm going to take that as a challenge. pulling out (no pun intended) normally i get in the 7's. I think low 2's should be a real possibility for me...
