I know this is probably a stupid question and I know that the answer is probably gonna be "no" or "not worth it" but I still gotta ask it. Would it be possible to change our engines to Dual VVT-i? If it's possible what would it take?

No they had the same motor but on 91 or 93 it made 239 ("required premium" it would run on 87), only 3 bhp more. Both the 4runner and taco would make the same. FYI this is what change from the 1st gen 1gr.

VVTi added to the exhaust cam
New cylinder heads with hydraulic lash adjusters and roller rockers
Cylinder block water jacket spacers are used
Oil filter changed to near the crank pulley and is a new cartridge type
New lighter crank shaft, 5 weight compared to 9 on the 1st gen
New lighter pistons that are hollowed (cast holes are in the bottom of the piston head)
    Compression ratio changed to 10.5:1
ACIS valve deleted from the surge tank
    larger throttle body
New air filter box out on the fender

You must be talking about the 2nd gen 1grfe, not the 1st gen.
