Transmission chatter at low speeds problem HELP!!

Hi everyone,

I've got this problem with my Tacoma. It's an auto 05 V6 Pre-runner with 105,5xx miles on it. This issue started to occur just after I replaced my transmission fluid @ 105k. I have been able to replicate the problem under light pressure around 1500 rpm's and going 30-35 mph when the car is in D shifting between 3-4 gears and around there. This chatter feels just like a clutch chatter(from my experience with clutches in a manual), and sometimes I would get a fast chatter like when you would drive over bumps on a freeway. The chatter would not replicate when the shifter is in 4, 3, 2, or L. When my foot is heavier on the gas pedal I would not notice this problem.

I had the transmission fluid serviced through a friend who works at the Toyota dealership. After bringing it back to them at Toyota they thought it was a drive line problem so i brought it into Power Train industries to no avail, they said it might be the torque converter. So I brought it to a Transmission shop who said it was not a torque converter issue but possibly in the disks inside the transmission but being that it's fairly a newer car he suggested I try some Lucas oil. So that was the route we took and upon looking at the fluid the fluid looked really dark for having just been replaced.

So now I'm stuck, with lots of money invested already, i want to see if any other Tacoma world members may have unfortunately encountered this as myself. I am well out of warranty now and am running out of ideas. I might have to take it back into the transmission shop to have them further inspect it but if they don't know the problem off the bat and are stunned at this prognosis I don't want to go ahead and have them take apart my transmission only to find out that this isn't what is wrong with it or if there is a cheaper, cost efficient solution.
