Thanks man. It's funny cause he had alzheimers and was always known for slapping females ass Or giving it a little pinch. Bout 15 min before he passed my dad said he gave the nurse a little pinch on the butt for one last hurrah. but he said he was tired of fighting and was ready to go

Look at it from their perspective. You have a house, family, job etc. Here is another family member they see as down on their luck and are believing they are helping them, and you asking them to forget about them and give it to you just makes you look selfish in their eyes. Be happy that you have a family that is willing to help family members and if you were in true trouble, not just inconvenienced, they will likely help you.

As for getting the place handed down to you I wouldn't plan on it. It may in fact come to you, however things change. Just plan to not get it, and if you do be happy, if not you won't be disappointed.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Sorry about your Grandpa. i love to hear stories of tough ol geezers who hang on and give hell right til the end.

That being said, a lot of people have given good advice and I am going to echo it. If you and your GF are making it on your own, then continue to do so. Dont rely on charity or a cheap place from your family.

What he said. Family is good until something monetary gets put into the equation. Then the greed becomes overwhelming

I didn't read everyone's opinion on this, but usually parents and grandparents tend to offer more help to those more "in need" and the ones who does things by the book. They probably see that you're very capable of taking care of yourself and assume that you need less help(charity) from them.

As someone mentioned, it's best to stay away from the situation b/c eventually someone is going to try to leach off of you and/or ask for handouts. Just keep doing what you're doing and things will pay off.
