Trying to finalize my selection.......if even the choice of these setups....which would be the best for light off road wheeling on the weekends (15-20%) and mostly on road mileage......3" Pro Comp Lift w/ Total Chaos UCA and AAL or 3" OME 885 w/spacer (Stock UCA) and Dakar rear?

OME w/Dakar's & 885's looking like the best choice.

i would have to say the nay no my brother to the pro crap lift. call dsm or arb usa they will be able to set you up nice as will toyotec. i would say you can't go wrong with any of those choices.

pro comp might save you a few bucks up front but, it has great potential to be the biggest mistake you ever bolt onto your truck lol. i know it was for me...

check out the vendor review section if you want a back round on the story with a pro comp lift.
also this may very well be the case as it has for a lot of V6 double cabs that they still get way more than 3 inches out of the lift and that it's stiff as hell.

    heres the link.

you where one of the lucky ones then.

it all depends on what you can tolerate i guess. many many people with the 3 inch pro comp lift get 4 inches of lift or more. anything over 3 inches wreaks absolute havoc on your drive train with out a drop bracket.

yes it is affordable for a complete lift kit but, consider what you are getting for your money and i'm not talking about components here i'm talking about the engineering behind the kit itself.

they have 730 pound spring rates across the board for the 3 inch lift thats way to much for any model of tacoma imho. if you where to call ome and or down south motor sports they routinely set people up with certain specific spring rates to match their needs and what they plan on running ie, plate bumpers winch full skids. in other words to compensate for any additional weight on the truck.

i know guy's that are running full ato skids, a relentless bumper and winch combo sliders and a rear plate steel bumper with a tire swing and rate of spring is just approaching the 700# mark! the pro comp lift is complete over kill also worth noting if you go above 3 inches with any kit designed for 3 inches you lose down travel and also stress key points on your front end.

so you can expect a very short life span out of your cv boots ball joints wheel bearings and differential in its entirety. the last one being a huge repair bill. i vey close to 10,000 in upgrades to my truck including any labor or misc. charges so i'm not shy about spending money on it. this time around i did a lot to it at once and i went with the pro comp due to the cheaper cost compared to the ome lift and if i could do it again i would pick the ome set-up every time! this is my.02 take it or leave it.

That is right! I was amazed at how well the suspension worked on my truck. I have driven many lifted vehicles and many different suspension systems as well, and OME is by far the best out there when it comes to ride. Unless you go full custom and then the sky (adn your wallet ) is the limit. I am however running the "heavy load" setup, which adds a stronger spring to the front and then another leaf to the Dakkar pack in the back. This did stiffen the ride a bit but it is still great and it sits perfect now with the camper top and the ARB bullbar (also the same company as OME).

Did you have any problem with your kit making any noises when you press the brake, accelerate from a stop, or turn right or left?

Anyone willing to share where you found the best prices on (or where you bought) your OME Lift, and Dakars?
So far, and metaltech4x4 look pretty good.
I just bought the Light Racing UCA from metaltech4x4 thru the Group Buy.
    Thanks for any info

    And to kill two birds......
The Poll is still open 'til Sunday
Gotta be more than a couple hundred lifts out there

I really enjoy the OME suspension with Dakar leaf springs.
I added 3 degree toy tec shims to the rear leaf springs to help angle the pumpkin more in line with the driveshaft.

I went with OME 885's, OME shocks, and Toytec AAL. Put it on myself....probably won't do that again LOL. Happy with lift though.

What caused the OE spring to break? Do you wheel often or was it time and hauling?
