Hey all, some friends of mine just lost their 19 y/o son Sunday evening to a tragic accident. Although I did not know Jimmy (Chandler) Brazell very personally, I had met him before and I'm good friends with his best friend and the girl that tried to save his life. He impacted a lot of people and was a great guy! My heart has been aching tremendously since I found out, and I barely knew him! Please pray for the comfort of the Brazell family, his friends that tried to save his life, and that God will continue to use this story to bring many close to Him. (It's what Jimmy would have wanted.)

Here is the article from the newspaper:
    http://www.tylerpaper.com/article/20110802/NEWS08/110809967

My friend, Rachel (18 y/o), performed CPR and shock treatments after they were able to pull Jimmy from under the waterfall. She got a faint heartbeat after 20 min and continued for an hour and a half. They also tried using an AED, but to no avail. I can't imagine how tough it was for Rachel to finally say good bye... :(

This next bit is kinda long, but if your interested, this was written yesterday by Rachel's younger brother, Nathan (best friends with Jimmy.) It is well written and very touching.

My friend and brother in Christ, Jimmy Brazell,
You were a man who aspired to inspire. Your life impacted so many and will continue to impact even from the grave. You lived your life whole heartedly for the Lord and in everything you gave Him praise.
Since I first met you at TeenPact in 2008 I would never have guessed that we would become such friends. I remember you as the crazy guy with the headband playing the guitar in worship. I also remember you sharing your story of the car wreck and how God pulled you through that and how you weren't supposed to live. Since then, you moved to Tyler from Athens and we grew close through the Lord. I remember the first time you came to our Church and I was like, "Hey, you're the kid from TeenPact that plays the guitar and wears that crazy headband." From then on we were more than friends, we were brothers. You encouraged me to be a man of God and I can remember many long hours where we talked under the stars or over the phone about our Creator and how we might follow Him better. Even when we were in Cross Country together and you would stop to eat a random leaf to give you "nutrients" you always pointed out God's beauty and His glory. Together we learned and shared much. We shared our struggles, our teenage crushes, our prayers, and our goals for life. I couldn't have asked for a better friend in this chapter of my life. I just wish you were going to be here for the rest.
Thanks for showing me what a man of God is supposed to look like and for being there for me. I wish I could give you one more hug, one more good-bye, but I know that you are in a better place and I would never have you leave that place of joy. I still can't believe that you are gone but I know that it is all in God's plan.
I remember our last night under the stars and you telling me about your experience in China and how much you were impacted. You were so on fire for the Lord and I thought to myself, "Jimmy, you are to good for this world. I don't know anyone like you and I hope to someday be like you." Little did I know that that would be the last time I would ever see you. The last time I would give you a hug in farewell. The last time to pray with you and worship our Lord on this carnal earth.
One memory that will never fade from my memory is your passion for loving others and your desire to draw them to Christ through worship or by a kind word. I'd hoped to lead worship with you next Sunday but I guess I will have to wait a time. But until then, continue writing those songs that you loved to write and when we meet again we'll lead worship for all the saints in Heaven. I know you had great aspirations to change this world, and you have. Through your travels in China to your everyday interaction with strangers and friends, you have made a lasting impact and investment. You truly have invested in things that will last because everything you did, you did unto and for the Lord.
In farewell, I would like to leave you with section from a song you should know well because you were its author. I've always loved this song and I remeber we even talked of putting cello in it for when you recorded your album.

    Many a song we sing,
    Many a voices ring,
    Many a hands held high,
    Many a flames ignite,

If this be the last song we sing,
Let it be sung for a King,
And If this be the last song we sing,
Let our voices shout and truly ring,

From a great love, to the Above,
From a great love, to the Above,

I know you are truly letting your voice ring for the King now in His Holy presence. And I know He said to you when you entered, "Well done, though good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." You're life has inspired and will continue to inspire. Thanks for running the race well my friend. Thanks for sticking with it.

Until we meet again, my fellow: warrior of God, musician, athlete, brother, and servant to Him. Your journey has finally come to a glorious end.

In Christ, within Whom we both stand,
    Nathan
