Front 5100's and OME 884's installed

I just installed my Bilstein 5100 front shocks and OME 884 springs today. I made pretty good time at two hours start to finish. The dealer wanted six hours labor My impact gun was to hot to touch compressing the springs. I am getting the TSB done Monday morning and I thing the truck should be level.

I have not decided what shocks I will run on the rear, the stock Bilsteins are to soft. Once I measure the compression and droop I'll pick the suitable shock. Being 2wd, having both tires planted to the ground is especially important to me. Here is a pic. A little nose high, but the TSB should correct that. I do need a bigger jack and higher jack stands now.

 

what notch did you place the front at, 1.85 or 2.5?

 

They are on the 0 setting. The 2" lift is from the OME springs.

nope. definitely nose high

 

It's nose high by almost an inch. I like the amount of lift in the front, over 2". I am going to install a set of Icon three leaf aal's to raise the rear up a bit. The ride is much better than stock.

 

Do you have any post tsb pictures? I'm thinking of getting 5100s and 884's, but I already have the tsb... Can you measure from the center of the front hub to the fender with the 884/5100 combo?

Here's my stock before tsb and after tsb measurements:
Before TSB
LF 20" RF 20.25"
LR 21.75" RR 22"

After tsb:
LF 20" RF 20.25"
RF 22.5" RR 22.75"

So tsb raised my 09 dc trd offroad .75 in the rear...

 

The pic is with 5100's set at 0 and 884's, with the TSB springs. I live at the beach which is hilly and I cannot find a totally flat piece of ground anywhere. I get an average height of
Front 22 5/8" and Rear 22 1/8" The 884's gave me about 2 5/8" of lift. I got less lift in the rear than you but I have a LB with a hi-lift, soft top, and some extraction gear in the back.
Maybe 75lbs + the long bed.
I have the Wheelers progressive 3 leaf aal that I will install Thursday of Friday. That should be perfect.

 

From what I was told from dsm, the 884's are good for 1" lift, and the 885's are 2"ish. That's odd you got 2 5/8" from the 884s at 0 on the bilsteins.

I just ordered to 884s and 5100s, so I should be able to install them next week. I'll post what I get.

I had always heard that the 884's were good for 2" on a prerunner.

 

Looks good, I would suggest OME rear N182 shocks only because I just put them on my own truck in the last week with a 2" AAL & it rides great. I think it would compliment the TSB very well.

 

Well the front 2" 884 will be nicely paired with a 1.5" aal + the tsb overload for the back that i was thinking about.

got a before and after?

im going to do mine this weekend. Before i do Im goign to put my truck in a certain spot and take a fe pics. Then once Im done im goign to put it back in that smae spot and take some more pics from the same angles. That way there will be documented views of what a real before and after looks like. A pay it foward for all the help i got, maybe it will help someone else deside.

 

have you had the 5100s in the back before?

 

I installed 5100s/884 about 2 months ago, I got about 2 3/4" up front. I have a 06 4x4 AC, I think all tacoma's vary a bit, and the provided numbers are just a general ball park.

 

im wondering if that the height you got right after you installed it or now after two months of settling?

 

That sounds good. I can never remember to take pics of my installs. I'll have a pic tomorrow with the 3 leaf aal. I will be changing tires to a 265/70/17, either the new Kumho kl61 or the Yokahama Geolander.

 

They really didn't settle that much, but I went out and measured again and I'd say I got a final life of 2 5/8. So settle about an 1/8 of an inch.

I was surprised how much lift I got, I thought I'd get around 21/4-21/2 max.
