Sway bar links

I am trying to get my sway bar links off so I can replace them & they are fully stuck. The bolt just spins & the hex on the bolt end stripped out. Should I just cut them off with my sawzall or angle grinder? Anyone have any luck with these? The NE salt has done a number on the bottom side of my truck!

 

If you have access to a torch heat the nut up. If you don't have a torch, now's a good time to go buy one.

I have a torch with map gas so I guess I can try that. I have the new Moog end links ready to go on so cutting them off is no big deal as long as I don't damage the spindal or sway bar. I don't want to take it off I don't wheel & I do a lot of highway driving.

 

Impact gun usually breaks em off with out using the hex.

 

I just had trouble with mine yesterday

Remember how these links work, if you're going from the hex side, you're technically trying to tighten in in to loosen it bc its coming out the other side

Anyway, don't cut it off, use some vise grips clamped on (half on rubber, half on the exposed metal part....really the only way to shove them in there) and start loosening it. You'll probably gonna ruin the dust boot like I did but if you're replacing, no biggie.
It takes some brute force but I got mine off. Need to take the wheel off though for leverage
