I came across an Undercover Tonneau cover on craigslist for $250. I've currently got an xtang Full Tilt tonneau and I do like it, but I really want (or think I really want) a hardcover that locks. So I'm trying to figure out if I can justify this purchase and if it's too good to pass up. I've been seeing a common price of $450 for these used, and about $750 new so it seems to be a hell of a deal. And I know the guy whose selling it is reputable because he sold me my current tonneau when he got his undercover. Any thoughts?

Not a bad deal if it's the right color and you know it's legit. Personally, I'm not a fan of hard tonneaus because they limit the usefulness of the bed (at least for me) but having dry, lockable storage is great! If you need it, that's a good deal! You could sell off your tonneau and recoup some of your costs also.

I believe the guys legit cuz like I said he sold me my current cover. And my current cover doesn't fold up or anything so I'm already used to the limited capability of my bed or the need to just remove it I need to haul something large. I have a black truck and it's a flat black cover so matching is a non-issue. I know I want it, I'm just wondering if I'll ever come across as good of a deal. And the guy told me to feel free to make him an offer which makes it even more tempting.

I'd say this is a good deal and you should jump on it. I spent several months looking for an Undercover a year ago, and in that time I'd say I came across only a half dozen that were within a 4 hour (one way) drive. Of those I think only 3 were for the short bed, and those were all priced $350 or above. Ultimately I ended up spending $400 for one down near Lexington.

I do remember one that was being sold for $250, but it was for a longbed.
