My tint shop did 23% to match. You'd really have to stare at it to notice a difference. I think its just fine. 23% came from some special new brand they got in. Look in my photo gallery if you're curious, but I doubt you can tell a diff.

I'll try to get some better pictures of mine here soon so you can see what you think. I probably would have gone with 20%, but I figured he's been doin this a lot longer than me, and i actually like the 15%, so it's not a problem.

Whats your guys' opinion on doing the windshield? It's a 75% tint.. so it's clear. Biggest benefit is 99% UV blockage, and like 42% solar heat rejection. Imagine how cool the cab would be.

I like the idea. I thought about doing that too, but decided not to at the last minute (Didn't have much more money to spend today)

Yessir it is. At least in GA. But I figure if they'll put 15% on the sides when it's supposed to be 32% they would probably do the windshield too.

    Georgia's New Window Tint Law

    H.B. 20 (Window Tint) - Amends 40-8-73.1 - Effective May 2, 2005
Revives the window tint statute which was recently found unconstitutional by the Georgia Supreme Court with some minor modifications.

Makes it a misdemeanor to violate specified window-tint restrictions
    · Applies to both residents & non-residents.
    · No window tinting on front windshield.
    · On windows to either side of driver or in back of vehicle, the light transmission restriction may not be less than 32%, plus or minus 3% or increase light reflectance more than 20%.

On my last truck I only tinted the fronts a bit lighter than the rear windows and what I did not like was the color of grey was slightly different. On my Toyota, I just had them do all the windows with the same 20% I did on the fronts. It made the rears very dark but the color of the tint is perfect.

Sorry to revive a super dead thread....

I put 20% on my fronts last night to find out indeed it is noticeably darker than the rears...my issue is that the rears are too light...I'd like ~20% equivalent transmission on all windows.

If I did 20% on the fronts, I'd have a calculated total transmisson of 15.4% (.77 *.2 = .154). With the rears metering at .27, applying 50% film over the stock tint would get me 13.5% (.27 * .5 = .135). Is 1.9% a short enough putt to not be noticeable?

    Anyone done this?
