power programmer question???

    i don't fully understand the concept of a power programmer, will it have some affect on a manual engine? what does it actually do? does anybody know of a good on for a 09 tacoma 2.7 5 speed manual?

    Do some research on google....

    Programmers are more popular with Diesel engines.

    Programmers allow you to change the programming of your ECU. You can change all sorts of timing, air/fuel, spark - all kinds of shit that you probably don't wanna mess with unless you know exactly what you're doing.

    I'm not sure there are much (or any) programmers available for tacomas.
    Scangauge can't even get some info out of the toyota ecu - it's unlikely there are programmers can either.

    I'm not aware of anything for the 4cyl.

    For the 4.0L there are a few options - APR X-1, Map ECU 2, URD MAF Cal, etc
