Harden your bark, there are storms on the horizon.
    CO is a 'wheelers paradise!

i have a friend who got tired of our big city, which really ain't big and moved to Wyoming last August. he loves it out there and is making twice the money doing the same work. kinda got me lookng at SD, MT or WY myself. people around here aren't sophisticated, they're just A**holes. it's funny...you get about 150 mi away in any direction and people are nice as can be (including Canada). it's also a fiscally depressed region...i.e.--the ones that have gathered up all the money ain't interested in sharing with us working folks. Bill's right too...i don't think the metropolitan areas in this country have any idea what it's like out here in the heartland. they figure we're all out here pumping sheep.

Hope your Grandma gets better soon.

Another reason I'm thinking about CO! Considering there are very few places to wheel here in MN...

Interesting that Austin was mentioned. If we someday decide to make a move, Austin is on the short list. I've never been there though, but keep on hearing how nice it is and all. But I'm also worried about its really high property taxes and that a lot of "hipsters" from states like CA and so on are moving there, which usually means it'll get nice and overpriced sooner or later- just like the states they moved from.

But... anyone actually from there or live around it? How do you all like it?

I lived there for the last 10 years and I miss it every day. Austin is a very special place. So much character. Property taxes are high (from what I hear - never owned) and it's certainly not the cheapest place to live, but it's worth every penny! Traffic sucks, but you learn where to stay away from pretty quickly. But Central Texas is so beautiful...

    Oh, and then there's the UT chicks! :D :D :D :D :D

That's all that needed to be said. There are 2 places I would live (if I were an available man) based only on the high volume of top-notch, smokin-hawt women.

Austin, TX. and Oxford, MS. I swear, Playboy should have permanent satellite offices on both campuses.

Well, I'm a married man so that ain't going to be a decisive reason. But I hear from lots of people that central TX sure is nice. I have been looking at home prices just for the hell of it. If you live a little outside the city, its pretty reasonable, as in 120-150k is still doable for a boring ole' suburban house.

Oh man, I love Houston... Grew up on the NW side in Spring.

Don't get me wrong... I'd go to Austin... I went to SWTSU (or Texas State now) before joining the Army... I was in Austin a lot. Then I got stationed at Ft. Hood...

I'm a big fan of Cent Texas...

    I'd never move to Dallas/FW...

Yeah, in the city limits you won't get much of anything for under $200K.

    +1... Too up-ity for me...

Well all I can say is home is ... home. If that is back in TN then you know what to do, but I loved Austin, only stayed for a day and a half but I'll never forget it. Good luck
