    I came home to this. Garage door wouldnt open. Do i have to change the.whole assembly or can i just change the.spring out?

    You can change just the spring, just make sure you torque it correctly.

    As the previous poster you only need to replace the spring on the one side and you can do it yourself, but the price should be minimal to get the door company to do it.

    If you decide to do it yourself you will still need to order the spring from the door company.

    Google it. Messin' with those springs is pretty simple, but without a little experience and especially the right tools, they can be quite lethal. Probably best left to a door guy.

    Thanks guys. Unfortunately, nevada law states that the springs have to be bought by a licensed contractor. Got it done yesterday $150 for both springs and labor. Best deal when I called around. Lifetime warranty as well.
