Sounds like your laws are about on par with the laws in New Mexico. You cannot shoot someone because they're walking out of YOUR house with YOUR property UNLESS they are assaulting you or you feel like your life is in danger. Same shit.

Unless you feel like you are going to die, then you cannot do anything to him/her. The law will just tell you that you fucked up and should have just let them go and waited for the police if they weren't intending to harm you. i.e. You go to jail. Reading comprehension much?

Sorry I did not mean to suggest every one should move but after a few suicides by cops, hostage situations, and drunken armed pissed off people shooting at the neighbors it gets old. After I retire in November I hope to never have to pick up a gun again.

Any of these things can happen with or without guns. The common problem is mental illness, evil people, and irresponsible people.

If you feel you are going to die can do anything. It is all about articulation in our courts. The homeowner just has to say the right things to show the court how they were afraid for their life.

And don't forget our inherent arrest powers for all citizens.

    Section 494. (Criminal Code)[8]
    (1) ARREST WITHOUT WARRANT BY ANY PERSON
    Anyone may arrest without warrant(s)
    (a) a person whom he finds committing an indictable offence; or
    (b) a person who, on reasonable grounds, he believes

    • (i) has committed a criminal offence, and
    • (ii) is escaping from and freshly pursued by persons who have lawful authority to arrest that person
    (2) ARREST BY OWNER, ETC., OF PROPERTY
    Anyone who is
    (a) the owner or a person in lawful possession of property, or
    (b) a person authorized by the owner or by a person in lawful possession of property
may arrest without warrant a person whom he finds committing a criminal offence on or in relation to that property.

Well, I know if I was somewhere and a riot broke out suddenly, I would want to be armed with a gun (always am) to have a chance to protect myself and my family.
What everyone else on this planet chooses to do is not my concern.
