    If you're in California, search the Regional forums... chances are there is someone near by who will let you ride in their truck to get a feel for the different lifts there are out there. Someone might even help you install it.

    I've helped people here in Reno.

    Also, I will admit I don't know much about spindle lifts, that may be an option as well since you're 2wd.
