I received that exact email word for word.

I'm curious how Chris got it for $200.

Is anyone here going to buy that warranty for $945? I'm still undecided... I'm leaning towards no unless there is a less expensive one for under $500.

Chris negotiated the cost when buying his truck.A great move.
I'm going to buy the warranty in the near future.I don't have to rush with my '09..
The 7/75 for $700 + the $175 for the Supercharger works for me.
Toyota products aren't bullet proof like 7-8 years ago.Toyota has had many quality issues.
Even the Lexus division has had their issues quality wise.
Cheap cost for piece of mind.

Exactly. If getting an extended warranty, the desision is best made before the sale, and shop it around.

how does the factory warranty or the ECP work if you change your own oil? are you still covered or does it have to be done by the dealer?

I've had extended warranties before and have done my own oil changes(and still do) without any warranty repair problems.

Tammi: I think those issues would be addressed if you made a warranty claim on something that was caused by what you did.

i.e. if you changed your own oil and didn't put the plug in all the way, lost all the oil, and seized the engine, the warranty company would not pay for a new engine.

Like Proone said, you would still be covered. The only way they can deny warranty coverage is if they can prove that your actions caused the defect. A dealer can make you use them exclusively only if they provide the service and parts for free (like a recall). It's part of the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act enacted by Congress.

I sure wish I saw something along the lines of this post when before I purchased my truck last year... Thats a hell of a deal compared to what I ended up paying for the extended warranty.:(

I would have never thought this was a negotiable item:confused:.

Does anyone know what is involved with trading in a 75k mile warranty for the 100k mile warranty? I presently have the 75k extended but would be interested in going to 100k. I sent out an email to Troy but in the meantime wanted to see if anyone knew if that is something I could do.

I think they're normally cancellable and they prorate it based on how much time you have left on the contract. I don't think you would "trade" it for a better one. You'd just cancel your current contract and then buy the new one. It should be somewhere on your contract how they refund it.
