Hello - Just bought a used one owner very nice 2005 SR5 TRD Sport 2D LB 4x2. Probably paid too much for 146XXX miles but that's water under the bridge. Anyway I'm interested in knowing what to expect for longevity from this truck. V6 5sp auto on synthetic and freeways only it's whole life. My daughter wants it in a couple of years and wants me to keep it for her. I only drive it about 5K a year so the truck will have about 156000 when she gets it.

Question is how many miles can I expect out of this engine without major issues.

How do these automatics hold up? No towing or very little local.

Any other problem areas that would lead me to find something newer for my daughter in a couple of years.

    Thanks

I would expect 250k with no major issues and being properly maintained and possibly many more. I purchased my 07 with 98k 18 months ago and am approaching 130k so hoping for many more trouble free miles.

Look at the bright side. At least when the Tacoma dies, you won't have to add another 110 Pound Nickel Metal Hydride laptop battery to a landfill next to a thriving suburb full of our future semi-retarded nickel plated hydride kindergartners.

    But who's counting.
