Tentasaurus - latest addition to our camping gear
I had built a (basic!) sleeping platform (a la bajataco et al )

but I found sleeping a little tight with the truck closed up (6'2"), and I retreated to the MEC Tarn 3. This little gem has never let me down http://www.mec.ca/AST/ShopMEC/Tents/3SeasonTents/3Person/PRD~5003-230/mec-tarn-3-tent.jsp[IMG]

We had looked at some used Boler, Trillium, R-Pod, T@B, and even pop-up trailers, but they were all over-priced, and I didn't really want to be tied to a trailer.
I had found these guys www.trucktentscanada.com :canada: earlier while shopping Softoppers, and discovered the Sportz SUV/Truck tent

Its described as an Suv tent (there are smaller and larger models for cars and full-size), but this is adaptable to fit any van, suv, midsize truck, and even my Impreza!

2 full doors with awnings and a huge window in the 3rd side, over 7ft ceilng, 10x10ft floor space, pockets, clips, etc

We were totally impressed on our next trip to Gros Morne (it rained 4 of 5 days - >100mm - 6in), yet we were totally dry in the tent and truck, had comfortable place to hang :rasta:, and the dog was never happier camping.

We slept on an inflatable mattress in the truck bed, and I put my platform on the floor of the tent, giving us a carpetted wooden floor :)

www.trucktentscanada.com :D was a pleasure to deal with, fast service, and even got a free hat! Even the price left me happy . I recommend them to all!

The World is waiting for you. GOYA!!

Gosh it is hard to choose. There is certainly a distinctive aesthetic to the thing.

Seems an added feature is that you can run the engine to warm the tent in the cooler months :smack:

    BTW, beautiful vacation spot.
