Kind of like how Bruce Springsteen sounded during halftime with 50 musicians on stage and at least 4 guitars playing the same parts.....A jumbled friggin mess, LOL:D

Another question out of curiosity...if you close your eyes can you tell which direction the sound is coming from for each speaker?

you can tell that there are more speakers, but there isn't a line where you can say, ok, that is one speaker and that is another. if you look at the picture that i attached a couple posts back you'll see that the speakers are right next to the stock ones

I wasn't too clear with that and I can't think of a better way to explain what I am asking! The point I was going to try to make is that you do in fact hear the phase issues however you are OK with them so that's all that really matters! :)

i thnk i might get it....are you trying to say that if all speakers are in perfect phase it should sound like you only have one speaker in your whole truck? (with good sound quality of course)

    All the normal TW BS
I think this is the situation:

colinb17 can hear that there is a sound difference with more speakers, but can't pick out where the sound is coming from. This is a mixture of issues:
-the new speakers sound different (this is normal since they are made of different material, have different handling, different mounting, and different emphasis
-The new speakers are fairly close to the old ones, reducing some positioning differences
-He can't point out where sound is coming from because he has phase/staging issues

    Marv is trying to say:
-if you have proper phasing, you can pick out where the sound comes from.
-if you have proper phasing, you the sound is more like being in the front row of a concert instead of being in the middle of a club dance floor.
-If you don't have a problem with your setup, why fix what ain't broke?
-If there's something naggling in the back of your mind, Marv could help tune things or provide direction to simplify/enhance your sound.

colinb17, I think the issue is that you don't necessarily have something to compare against - talking is all fine and good, but experience is where you are going to figure things out. If you have a chance to hear a car in proper phase, it could give you perspective.

Don't get too caught up in the "oh god I'm not in phase my whole sound is now crap because someone else thinks it's crap". It's got to be right for you for starters. Second, trying to get all that staging and phasing and timing and all that stuff can be quite involved.
For me, I personally don't want to use anything other than the stock locations and I don't feel like getting equalizers or time correction hardware. Will this limit my abilities to have 'the best sound possible'? Of course, but I'm drawing a line in the sand and calling it good enough for me at that point.

I'd agree you should NEVER let anyone else tell you what sounds good to you and in any case I never said I think his sound is "crap"! It's all about personal preference and as I mentioned before, all that matters is if the owner of said system likes it. :)
Now if there is something you don't like about how it sounds colinb17 feel free to give me a call and I'll help you out! :)
