So our HOA has been run by the developer of our subdivision for the past 10 years. He has finally sold enough lots to turn the HOA over to the actual homeowners. Four unlucky saps have volunteered to be the "board." They (the developer) have been talking about raising dues for the past couple of years as they have been running a deficit be they out of their goodwill (cough bullshit cough) have made up the difference rather than raise the rates. Anyway, during the meeting to turn the over the HOA, the developer informs the newly formed board that they should raise dues at least $100 (we have a pool and park so this is not completely unreasonable) and oh yeah we expect that the HOA pay back the deficit the developer had been carrying which is now $50k, give or take. WTF?!!!

I REALLY HATE HOAs and developers. My apologies to any honest developers out there.

Hahaha, another great thread!!! I got a great laugh out of that first post, I think if you wash it in the street and make sure all the dirt stays there then they can't cite you since it's not your property...you'd have a dirty street but they can't do shit no matter how much they get pizzed at it.
Yea that would be a "shitty" (first page reference) way to get revenge. lol

Holy crap!!!!!!!!!!!!! Was that truck white at one point??!?!??!?!?

Our HOA was getting out of hand so a few neighbors that all have the same feeling about the way things were going got together we loaded up the election meeting and voted the bastards out and now our biggest HOA rule is no pigs on your property. We also found in the by laws that we can skip collecting dues for 1 year out of every 5 so now I have no HOA dues for 2009.

Sounds loke your on the right path with dealing with these fucks but there are waays to get rid of them forever.
