05 Fuel door

Has anyone had a problem with the fuel door rusting off of there Tacoma??? I just went for Fuel this morning, and the bottom of the hing was broken off.. The door is still attached at the top and the clip works for closing it...???

 

My buddy down the road just had this happen to his 06 but my 05 appears to be fine.

 

Same thing on my 05. I thought it was a common problem on the tacomas. Dealer wanted 54 bucks for the gas door assembly. then need to have it painted.

 

I have the balance of my five year 100k bumper to bumper warrenty left, wonder if this falls into that...??? I'll have to stop by a dealer and check it out...

 

Yeah my 05 makes noises when opening and closing the door.

 

I always spray mine down with white lithium grease or a teflon spray.

 

x2. Lube it, or lose it. I can recall it either falling off or getting bent half a dozen times as a result of people not lubing them.

 

Mine was broken when I bought it (used) So Im gonna have to replace mine.

 

+1 .... Have kept the inside of mine sprayed with Rust Check since I've owned it.

 

Good prevention too is to not let gas get spilled in that area. Always catch the spillage with the cap or a rag when pulling out the nozzle.
