slight vibration when starting from stop

11 dcsb 4x4 6cyl auto

there is a vibration that comes through the pedal when gassing from a stop. it is slight, and i fear it will get worse... it only happens the few seconds i start moving forward, and then goes away.

is this normal or what... i have stock suspension.

 

Mine didn't do it but I added 2 inch blocks and now it vibrates from a dead stop gonna try some aals if that don't fix it im going back to stock hight

I drive like a total grandma most of the time, but when I give it a bit of gas my 2011 has a slight vibration for literally about 1 second right after take off. No big deal IMO and I've yet to find a passenger who can feel it.

True, I have noticed if you start off grandma like or goose it you don't feel it. These trucks are not as smooth as you would expect being a Toyota. This vibe, the gritty feel at 60-65 under throttle and the vibes introduced when you lift are all pretty common. As much as I like my truck this is a bit of a disappointment. But, as an enthusiast, I have never owned a vehicle that I did not think had some issues...

 

It's a truck. It's probably the smoothest truck I've ever driven... My '84 Dodge, '96 F150, '98 4Runner, '96 Land Cruiser were all MUCH rougher because...they are trucks!

Hate to say it, but if you have a vib now it will most likely get worse with a lift.
When you lift the most common vib is from the start off.

So if it's doing it now, it will most likely get worse.

As for if it will hurt anything now one really knows for sure.
Some say post lift they have had differential issues, but most don't.

As for me I'm not ready to risk a lift. I only have a vib if I am in reverse
and take off from a stop up to about 5mph.

 

Why are vibrations through the pedal? It's a a throttle-by-wire vehicle. There aren't mechanical connections between the pedal and the engine. Is it just vibration felt in the cab?

I get some pitch oscillations at lower speeds (<25 mph) after the lift. Probably caused by the stiffer front springs. At the same time the truck doesn't dive as much under hard braking.

 

That sort of my point--sorry for not being clearer. I think sometimes people think it will drive like a Camry on stilts, when in reality it doesn't. I know that when I bought my first Toyota (04 4Runner back in 2004) I was thinking it would be a revelation in "quality" from what I was used to in my Silverado. I could not believe it when the drivers seat rocked, the sunroof rattled, the door panels rattled with the music, the engine sounded like a diesel, and I had the same high frequency vibe I get in the Tacoma at 60-65 (only it happened at 75-78). But, it was a great vehicle and never gave me any real trouble. I define real trouble as something someone of a less anal status would think was a problem. I can tell you there is nothing wrong with my truck a sane person would complain about.....only us nut balls. Most people who buy these things would not think anything about the slight vibes we have, yet some of us on here get so fed up we sell the truck for a loss. I say this, but as I get older I get less particular about the little things. I have learned that something like these slight vibes will probably never be fixed by a dealer and if you take it to them and they don't fix it will only piss you off more... Just remember these trucks are great looking, easy and relatively cheap to mod, and best of all, depreciate probably less than any other vehicle you could buy.
