I agree, the Turtle Wax ICE is awesome for touchups and once a month waxing. Pastewax beginning and end of each season, ICE for touchups. The ICE interior cleaner is the best, no greasy feel or shine, just clean and awesome smell!

Nothing wrong with protecting your paint. I honestly should wax my truck more often. Not having a convenient place to wash/wax my truck has kept it pretty filthy the last few months.

 

I've read that some dish washer soap is bad for paint, I'd stay away from Dawn and stuff like that

With Gold Class you should be waxing a daily driver every 3rd week. Gold class works but it does not last long at all.

 

Once a year..... Zaino process... because its that good and I hate waxing vehicles. especially larger ones. Unlike carnauba it doesn't "melt in the heat. I don't "wax" for shine but for protection. Silver is low maintenance and my truck is garaged most of the Spring Summer and Fall. The bike is my main transportation.

 

I like DP Max Carnuba from Auto Geek .net. It is not cheap but, it will wax my Tacoma 10-15 times and my Accord a good 10 times from one container. I like the fact that is has not abrasives. It is very easy to use. I wash my truck with plain water (no soap and no dish soap!), dry it with old bath towels and apply the wax with a cloth pad. I keep the pad in a small plastic bag. It stays moist and then is easier to apply the wax. When I detail other peoples cars and trucks I like Mequeir's Gold class liquid or their Tech 2 liquid. Often I will wax a few panels of my truck after a wash job so it does not require too much time all at once. However, I can wax my truck in an hour. vI use Mequiers's was on my windshild too. It seems to fill in small imperfections and look especially clear.

I worked with a guy a long time ago who washed his white car with comet because he said it got cleaner that way because of the bleach. When he first told me that I was like ...OMG are you stupid!

I wax mine every 2-3 months. With Silver, it isn't super glossy to begin with so I don't care as much anymore. I used to have a burgundy Honda Accord, it got waxed once a month and polished every other month. Everyone used to ask me if I repainted it. Nope, it was the original factory paint.

I have lost interest in being anal retentive about my vehicle over the years...I guess because it's a truck and I have trail stripes on it anyways. I do try to wash it at least every other week.

My truck is lucky enough to get hit by the sprinklers going down the street at 3AM.

 

I use the turtle wax ice paste. And eagle one swipe and shine between wax jobs.
