Getting a new gun, any opinions

I am looking at getting a Ruger MK77 Hawkeye.

I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about Ruger. Are they a good quality gun? If not what do you recommend for a reasonable price.

Also, does anyone one shoot a .280cal rifle?

This is a pretty good deal and you cant go wrong with Ruger. They make decent rifles that go bang.
I personally have Browning in a A-bolt SS stalker with the Boss. Just added a Stockys thumbhole stock in the laminated blue.

I take it your looking for a hunting rifle or are you mainly going to target shoot. If your hunting the 270 is a more popular round than the 280 as it will be easier to get a hold of in stores and cheaper to reload if need be.

 

Take a look at the new Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle. It is based on the MK77 but it is available only in .308. A Ruger rifle will last as long as you are able to pull the trigger if properly maintanied.

I have a M77 in 30-06. Its a great shooting rifle. I have only shot a rabbit with it. (Not the greatest gun to shot rabbits with) they carry really nicely too.

ruger's are quality rifles every kid who has ever owned or fired a .22 has probably fired a Ruger 10/22

 

You can't go wrong with that option. Light recoil, flat trajectory...the .280 is really underrated for the performance I've experienced. One of the best "mods" for one of those rifles is some trigger work...from the factory they're usually pretty stiff. Nice decision...good luck with it!
