any hint as to what model year the 3rd gen will be released as? Just wondering whether its worth it to wait for that one as I'm soon to be in the market for a '12.

Yeah I've read horrible stories on tundraheadquarters...

Well thats great, more equipment that can go bad.

What more emissions do we need? It's a pickup truck not a prius.

Great job Toyota, load the truck up with more useless emissions crap.

One reason I love my '05 is the engine bay is super roomy, which makes it easy to work on.

I'll pass on the Steering wheel. Looks cheap and plasticy to me. Basically the reason I haven't bought an FJ or a Wrangler--the interiors are so damn ugly! And whats wrong with a steering wheel that you can fit your fingers around almost 360 degrees? It gives you more hand position for long drives.

Its nice to see they added tie downs to the front, but I agree with the previous poster that they are an afterthought. Those look like the exact same tie downs that are in my Tundra. Probably from the same parts bin. Toyota should have really have done the D-ring mod on the front, underneath the bed bolts, to secure the rings.

I wonder if they axed the gas pedal in the '12s and you will need a 3" heel lift on your right shoe to touch the gas? LOL

2015. New engines, trans, electric steering, hybrid available. The hybrid will have a CVT transmission. All others will have a six speed trans. No more standard trans. No more V6s.Only engines available will be 4 cyl,4 cyl turbo and hybrid.A triple cab is also being decussed for those who just can't get a big enough truck but I do not think that will happen.

I see no room for TRD or after market CAI....at least current design, right?

Doesn't look like it, however they still list it as an option. That is indeed a secondary air injection. Electric blower motor and control. Looks like they are trying to improve low temp emissions. I have also heard a rumor that they changed the valve train to roller finger follower instead of the direct acting mechanical bucket, single intake VCT. That would mean new heads. Sounds like it is basically a new lump driven toward efficiency...

I just guessing but probably a few more years. Maybe a 2014 model? The reason I say this is there would have been no reason for the changes to the 2012 if they were coming out with a 3rd generation in 2013.

others' speculation is 2015. Doesn't matter, 4 yrs is too long for me to wait regardless.
