rear spring TSB and blower fan done today ..

Ok, so I have 10,000 miles on my 2011 DC OR and just got the rear spring TSB completed today at Freedom Toyota in Hamburg, PA. (very good dealer/service dept., no questions asked after I told them the problem they ordered the parts and installed 2 days later) The reason I had it done was because I was hauling 800lbs of wood pellets a while back and the truck rode the bump stops nearly the entire ride. I haul between 5-6 tons a winter and didn't want to have a problem. The truck does ride a little stiffer now but I like it, rides more like a truck and sits a bit higher too.

I also had a hvac blower fan installed as well as an "insulation kit". The orginal fan started chirping at around 5000 miles and recently was so loud I hardly ever used it. The new fan is quite so far and the "insulation kit" appears to be nothing more than a sticky foam pad stuck around the fan under the passenger dash.

My question to you all is do you think these fixes will last? I've read some of you say the tsb spring suck after awhile and the replacement fans start chirping. Does the insulation kit really quiet down the noise?

 

I had the chirpy fan replaced per the TSB (included new blower motor and the insulation kit) back in July. All was quiet until the temp dropped this week, and I spent a day driving with a noisy fan.

It used to chirp a little on low, and it would go away if I even briefly switched it to high and back to low.

Now it 'knocks' instead of rattles, and it does it in every fan position without going away. But it only did it one day, I'm hoping it was just something caught in the fan.

 

not great news ... but the new fan is quiet for now so i'm happy. The truck rides alot better than it has. Its stiffer but it doesn't have body roll nearly as much as it did in the corners. I was going to get the 5100's for the front to improve the ride vs the lift but I don't really know if the ride will improve.

 

I have a new 2011 TX/TRD and tow a 4500lb boat. I've only had the truck 2 weeks and only had a Chance to pull the boat once. Did notice it was not as stable as my FJ Cruiser was while towing. I do only have the 3 stack leafs so I'm assuming the 4 stack would help out? Was planning on air bags but if this will solve the problem that would save me the cost.
