When you think of a "traditional" tire sizing, it is based on width/height aspect (%)/rim size.

So a 265/70/16 is a 265mm wide tire. The sidewalls are 70% of the width, and it fits a 16" rim.

There are 25.4mm in an inch.

    So a 265 is 10.43" wide. 70% of the width = height of 185.5mm, or 7.3" tall.

So you take 7.3" X 2 (both sides of the rim) and add that to your rim diameter, and you have a tire that is 30.6" tall, 10.43" wide, and fits a 16" rim.

    Go to a 265/75/16 and you have a 31.6" tall tire, 10.43" wide, on a 16" rim.

You should be good to go from there.
