Real sorry for your loss. Nothing you can do but take it day by day. He's in a better place, Nothing you could of done. He'd served his country, and sounds very similar to my father whom served an unknown amount of time in Vietnam as well.

    Be strong brother!

    Sorry for your loss, Adam.
Be proud of the hero that he was, and forgive the "not so good" issues.
I am glad that you had the opportunity to get back in touch with him after your childhood.

I'll be thinking bout you Adam, I'm sorry for yall's loss.
I thank him for his service.
He is a hero, and I commend you for looking past the negatives.
In this day and age there are too many circumstances where we don't forgive and forget. Glad you got a chance to reconnect with him after childhood.

Sorry for your loss but be thankful that you did reach out and connect with him later. I'm sure it meant a lot to him and you did what you could do. I'm sure he was proud of you.

    Adam,
Close or not, best of friends or enemies, he is your dad and just knowing that you can't see him anymore doesn't mean you can't talk to him. You know he's listening and you might even know what he would say back. Regardless, it's a tough position to be put in. This to shall pass. I'm sorry and my condolences. We'll see you soon.

Wow Adam...I haven't really been on here in a while and just read this thread. My thoughts are with you during this time. I lost my dad last November and know what you're going through. My prayers are with you and your family during this time of sorrow, Brother.
