Where is the other dollar???? Puzzle

A friend told me this one and it puzzled me for a while:

3 friends on a road trip stop to stay the night at a hotel. They get inside and the man at the desk said it will be $30.00 total. The 3 friends decide thats a fair price and each hand the clerk a 10 dollar bill, receive the key and go up to the room for the night. The clerk later realizes that he didnt give them the correct rate and forgot to give the friends the TacomaWorld $5.00 discount. So the clerk sends the bellhop back up to the room with 5 one dollar bills. The bellhop cant figure out how to divide up the 5 dollars between 3 people so he sticks 2 one dollar bills in his pocket, knocks on the door and refunds each person one dollar. So the friends ended up paying 9 dollars a person for the room instead of 10. So 3 X 9 = 27 plus the 2 dollars the bellhop stashed in is pocket = 29. Where the F#%k is the other dollar???

 

There is no other dollar. It's a debit/credit problem. You don't add a debit to a credit. Since he gave them back $5, The room cost was $25 and not $30. They only received $1 back so they paid $27 for the room ($9 each). $25 went to the hotel and $2 went in the bellhop's pocket which equals $27.
