Just installed new generic double din HU with nav/DVD/bluetooth etc.....
Also came with a backup camera. :D

Installed the backup camera and tied into the battery and ground on the trailer harness for power to the camera. The idea being that eventually I wanted to install a toggle switch to view the camera at any given time while driving down the road.

Hooked everything up and after surfing through the TW forums found the wire that engages the reverse camera for the HU (red/white wire at drivers side kick plate). Hooked everything up, camera has power when ignition is on. When I put the truck in reverse the HU cuts to the backup camera as its supposed to, but when I apply the brake pedal, the HU displays no signal. As soon as I let off the brake pedal, the camera works again.

Tested the reverse wire that I tapped into and noticed that there is a small drop in voltage when I apply the brakes at the wire. Its only about half a volt though. Is this normal? Any idea why this would cut off the camera signal when the brakes are applied?? Is there any other place to tap into the reverse system or should I just go get the toggle switch now? Can't seem to figure this one out.

    Update:

Ok, I see a lot of people hitting the thread but no responses. Wanted to give everyone an update. Looks like everything is working now. As of this morning, if I through it in reverse and backup with and without the brake pedal, the signal stays on the whole time. I'm not sure what has changed, but I'm hoping that it stays that way.
