My wife and I take a road trip from here to Indiana every other year...about 1,800 miles one way. We just take our time and enjoy the scenery .

We try to go out on drives at least twice a week to the surrounding lakes (Bartlett and Saguaro) just to get away for a few hours and catch up with each other after a busy week of work and blah blah blah...

I think I took it... but I did it in parts, and I'd like to redo it with my tacoma.. so.. combine the parts and add on the other road trip i did the year previous.

I was living in colorado.. and moved to vegas.. and back to colorado... bought the national parks pass..and lets see if i can remember

So.. Breckenridge->moab, arches, canyonlands (main part, then needles) then south to Natural Bridges, glen canyon(stopped and toured the dam), Monument valley, antelope canyon, onward to Buckskin gulch (very long and awesome slot canyon), lake(reservoir) powell, Grand canyon, Vegas...

onward.. death valley, (would add in sequoia N.P.), to the coast up HWY 1, stop in santa cruz and various awesome spots mtn biking and hiking and camping my way north. Visit with some Ewoks, maybe kick ones ass for fun then leave quick.. yosemite, mono lake,

That was the real part... I'd like to add on continuing up the coast and exploring the PNW, then return via (real part again) Yellowstone and Grand tetons then explore and fish in the wind river mtns.

Was pretty awesome trips, but had a subaru jammed full of all my stuff. The tacoma with just the fun stuff would be awesome, and make it a totally different experience.

We passed a number or historical sites from the Civil War/US History coming out of the east coast. I wish we could have stopped at a number of sites we saw on the way west.

I had a friend with me each way. For safety reasons. It is sooo easy to fall asleep while driving at night through the desert or plains. I could have driven back to CA by myself but that would be pretty boring plus there are some sketchy people out there.

If you drive by yourself, plan ahead so you know where you can safely spend the night. Or sleep in your truck at a Flying J truck stop - there are some other nice ones too.

It was a great excuse to put on some PIAA 580s and a nice lightbar for the ride back.
