another box/sub thread ALPINE SHALLOW MOUNTS

I read a review from car audio magazine about the alpine type r shallow mounts. they say it is suppose to compare to a regular type r. they also say they had a box made by boxshoponline.com. i was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with the that shop, or this subwoofer. if so post pics.

I too have read the Type-R shallow is supposed to be darn good. I've not tried it though so I can't comment personally.

 

i wanna know if anyone has had them in any vehicle. I'm pretty sure these would fit no problem back there in a double cab

Are you sure they fit behind in the double cab?

I have the 8 Inch versions of these, and they are shallower than the 10s, and they are not shallow at all. The 10s and 12s are plenty big. Then again, I do not know the measurements of the back of the seats, since I cannot install mine there.

Also, these sound ridiculously good. I tested the 12s the 10s and the 8s. It is bliss... It is a precise bass that brings a nice boom when you want it.

Hmmm. Went back to check some info. Noticed mine are the "second" version, and just a little shallower than the previous Type R's. The shallow you might be referring to does not come in 8".

In which case... sorry about that. I bet they sound great anyway.

i got 2 12s on the way hopefully have them in by monday . My buddy has 2 in his denali and they sound really good. very accurate crisp bass. and they're loud!

 

Don't forget amps have a big part in your sound quality too

Can't find the post, but I'm pretty sure the Alpine rep that frequents DIYMobileAudio.com mentioned the shallow 10/12s are SQ-wise better than the traditional Type Rs, but they need a lot of power to perform at full extension.

 

they have a 3 inch coil, rare to find that in "full size" subs for a decent price.

sundown audio sd-2 half the price and will probably handle high power better than the alpine

 

I just had a look at those sundown subs. They're pretty shallow! You guys could get 12's behind the seats no problem with those! No pole vent on the motor so you could butt them up right against the rear wall of the box.
