Have 3,000 to spend a guitar. Can either get an old mint condition 1978 fender strat. Or I am looking at Acoustics as well. Either a Taylor 814ce, 714ce, or actually any 14ce series. What do you think?

 

i’m trying to learn how to play. and i would get the fender strat. but agin idk what the other ones are.

 

Both are nice to have , ( electric and acoustic ) , do you have an amp and can you regularly play plugged in ?

 

Yeah I have an amp. I was thinking the stratocaster for the year it is. But I love playing Alice and Chains unplugged, Eric Clapton unplugged. I just don't know

 

Gibson or Ibanez

 

I've got a 79 Marshall Jmp and I think my custom telecaster sounds amazing with it. Have you looked up teles? Also, I remember reading that Jerry Cantrell used g&l guitars and recorded a lot of songs with a les Paul custom

 

So you already have an electric I assume , and an acoustic ?

 

No sold all mine, want to get back into it. Don't like Gibson, Don't like Ibanez.

I've owned and sold many Gibsons and Fenders. The one guitar I haven't sold is my Schecter Tempest Custom. $700 or less will get you a new one, and it has humbuckers with coil splitting for an outstanding single coil tone as well. Best of both worlds. Don't waste your money on a big name with failing quality control.

 

I have both a 414ce and 514ce. if you can afford it i strongly recommend either the 514ce or the 714ce. the 714 is just such a beautifully made guitar and sounds better than it looks. my only recommendation is to get either a jumbo or full dreadnought. the cutaway seems to take away alot of resonance and can at times give it a tinny sound

 

of and if your looking at fenders get an american made tele. best out there. not too many people know this but the highway one series is an american made series fender just different finishes then the ones branded as american series.

I can get a brand new 2011 Taylor 814ce in the box for 2200.00 shipped. Is that a good deal?

front one was a Warwick Vampyre. theres a fender y in the back (rare and odd) and a Washburn too. I sold most of them when I got married. I couldn't convince her that a mechanic needed 12 basses. and Im not in a band.
