super charger

okay .. so my husband wants a supercharger for his truck.

he has a 2004 .. its a manual and its the 4 wheel drive package? I don't know much about it .. I know he was looking at the superchargers on ebay that ran for like 1200 to 1500 ...

when looking at buying one, what do you look for as in components. He wants to race the baha eventually and this is the first thing he wants to do. I want to suprise him, and he deserves it, cause I just boght a lift for my JK 4dr wrangler today (lots of money) ...

what do you recommend and where do you recommend buyig from? I want this to be his christmas presnet ...

its a 04 Tacoma SR5 VG TRD off road package. It has a rear cab, but 2 doors .

 

i would say buy one from a shop that sells complete do-it-yourself kits that comes with everything you need down to the nuts and bolts. vortech, paxton, powerdyne, etc. they all make great kits but they will run you between 3k and 5k depending on what you want. i was thinking about a supercharger or a turbo for my 07 but i decided i'd rather do a v8 swap with a 4.7L v8 from a new tundra, it'll have the same power as if i added a supercharger or turbo, but no boost lag because it's all-motor, and much better gas mileage when compared to forced induction. also the reliability of a toyota motor is still there seeing as how it's unmodified

 

how do I find out the engine size? I found a 3.4 L and 4.0 L and he's got a V6

 

he should have the 3.4L, the 4.0L v6 started in the 05 tacomas

Wish i had the money for a supercharger, your husband is a VERY lucky guy. One being you're getting him a supercharger for Xmas, second you being cool enough to do something like that in general. Thats awesome!

Hi Tacoswife, Yea that's a great gift... here are some TRD #'s for the Supercharger:

Supercharger Kit - PTR01-35962-01 for 5VZFE V6 ('96-'024Runner / '97-'04 Tacoma
(the old p/n PT901-17620-21)

also the TRD Booster Gauge ('02-'04 Tacoma) PTR01-35020-05

you will also need the 7th Injector Kit don't have the current TRD # on that one.
