First Tacoma

Well I have all of ther service records for this truck and man he had everything done except for the transmision fluid and from what I can tell the front diff. Everything else has been serviced or flushed several times.

So I called Toyota and they One told me that since I do not have a fill stick, that it is running the Toyota Gold fluid which doesn't have to be replaced until 150k. They tell me that it is a time process because they have to get the pressure(fluid level) just right for shifting and it is about 20 dollars a quart! Is this true that this fluid is not servicable till 150k?

How easy is it to replace the diff fluids on the front and rear? He had the rear serviced many times, but I don't think the front has ever been serviced.

I am just trying to find all of the service stuff for this vehicle. I greased all of the joints in the drive line. Anything else?

 

I know but I can not find anything on servicing this transmision. From what I can tell there is one with a dip stick and this one that doesn't have one because from "it is supposed to be non serviceable". The ATF is like 20 dollars a quart for this type of transmision.

That is why I am trying to find out the truth because I want to get everything figured out.

 

Does anyone know the recomended service on the transmission?

Thanks for that, but I have already found that link. But again that is only going to change the fluid in the pan and not the converter. I found that you can go to the dealer and they can replace all of the fluid with a pump. But it is very expensive. The WS AFT is about 20 dollars a quart alone for these type of transmisions.

What I am having a hard time, from either online or calling dealerships, is a solid service on the transmision. It seems like it is a non service item. Heck it isn't even in the service manual with the truck.
