Wheels and tires for my Timberland green Tacoma

Alright so ive got a 2009 timberland green taco dcsb and im going this week to look at wheels and tires for it. I dont know exactly what to get, what size wheels, and what size tires. so i was wondeirng if you guys could give me ideas on all this and what you guys think looks good with the color of my truck.

 

comes to personal opinion, do a search on wheels here and you'll find millions of threads, decide on a few, then you can make a thread asking which, just too broad a question from a third party perspective, and as far as size tire? depends on wheel, as far as size wheel? depends on what you want, you want it to come out more or keep it stock size, lift in the future?, all comes into play.

 

well the first thing to figure out is what is you use the truck for, all street? Off road? The next is tire size/rubbing/mileage issues. Bigger tires need a lift to fit with no front rubbing. 275/70 is probably the biggest you can go without serious rubbing issues, though you still will most likely have to ditch the front mudflaps. The bigger the tires, the lower the gas mileage, I have 275/70/17 Goodyear M+S tires, very good bad weather tires but it hurts the mileage some. I wanted tires that had decent on road and off road performance as most of the time my driving is on road. As far as appearance, it's up to you, IMO, i think it looks silly to put rims on a truck that are not really rated for a vehicle that hauls weight or trailers.

 

I do lots of street driving and off roading isnt done much but i do like off roading so i do off road in my truck. does anyone know how bad it would hurt my mpgs to run 265-70-17 bf goodrich mud terrain km2s?

 

Not much of a difference with those, I was talking when you get into like huge tires like swampers like 315's wide. You may not have to lose the front mudflaps with the size you're talking about. Good call, IMO black rims look bitchin with the Timberland color.

 

I run 16x8 for my 35's. be sure to keep a 4.5BS - personally i feel thats best for our trucks and i never had the need for spacers.

 

Oh yeah im not gonna go into anything huge in tires...nothing over a 285 if i even lift my truck...i cant afford all that haha. but what do you guys think of the xd revolvers or the xd addicts?

 

Also, whats the biggest tire you can run on an 18 inch rim..im not sure if ill get 17 or 18 but would like to know if i decide on the 18s?

 

Depends on current size. If your running 245 load c and jump to the 265 km2 then I think that will be an E rated tire and I would expect a 2-5 mpg drop due to significant weight increase. That's the nice thing about the Duratrac, you can still get load c and reasonable weight.

 

The black addicts look pretty cool IDK about 18's, there are probably threads on 18's here if you search.

 

If you want to off road I would stick to a 16" wheel they will air down better than a 17" or 18" and the largest you can go without a lift or rubbing is 256/75/16. As stated looks are a personal choice with many options and if you post some pics of what you are considering we can tell you what we think. I think some black wheels would look good on a TG. I'm going to put some black ones on my Silver & Black but haven't picked out which ones yet because I have other thing higher up on my wish list.
