PVC cart?

I'm looking to build a pvc cart like this;

And my question is if anyone knows how sturdy 1 1/2 inch pvc pipe as far as its structural support, i was thinking of screwing some two by fours horizontally like a deck on the bottom of it to have a firm base but i dont know if the pvc can take that, also where can i find these wheels to attach onto the pvc pipe for cheap?

 

Schedule 40 pipe is pretty damn strong. It will take getting drilled and bolted or you could just cut a piece of plywood to fit for a bottom. If you make sure all the joints are good and clean before you hit it with the 2-part glue, you should be good to go.

 

that definitely wont be very strong with just PVC, i wouldnt use 2x4 either , a piece of plywood would be stronger and hold everything square. wheels could be bought at harbor freight. but then again so could a cart that will be much better and under $75

 

If you want to go heavy duty and last a longer time use sched. 80 PVC pipe and fittings.
I built a couple pratice hockey goals for the kids and they outlasted them.
Remember to paint the finished product to protect it from the suns UV rays.
