Powder Coating

Has anybody ever powder coated their stock wheels and if you have how did it turn out and did it last...any pics would be great in helping me make this decision...THX

 

i powdercoated my 17s, twilight clearcoat on top of wet black, took it to the beach and drove on the sand for miles, got home, sprayed em off with water, looks brand new, 2 years later still perfect

 

did you just paint your centercaps? what black did u use, and how many coats of everything?

 

powder coating is the best method to use when you want to change wheel color. it's far superior to paint as far as durability, quality, and appearance. it will be money well spent.

the wheels will have to be sand blasted first then powder coated so keep this in mind when dealing with the shop and know what their price includes.

 

What about center caps though

 

if it's plastic, most shops won't do it so you'll have to get it color matched at a body shop. however, the good powder-coaters can work with composite plastic if they've experimented with it before. with regular plastic, they recommend you just get it painted.

 

Powder coated stock wheels for my winter tires. Very nice. We don't salt the roads up here (except intersections) so I will see how the first winter wears on them.
