After talking with him it turns out we know the same people. He works about a mile from me. He lives about 50 miles from work and takes an interstate. 100 miles a day times 25 work days is 2,500 a month, times 12 months is 30,000 a year. He's had the truck since 1996. So you can do the math and figure out where all the miles came from. Also, i got it for $4,900, so I'm glad I'm under your $5k mark. :)

    awesome!

now get that timing belt taken care of and you'll have a nice truck on your hands. I think you definitely paid a lot for it but hopefully it will be problem free.

After further investigation, the timing belt was actually changed at 150,000, but it's due for another one. Radiator was flushed about 20,000 miles ago, and brake system drained and bled about 25,000 miles ago. So it's not too bad.

    Plans?
    • Buffing Compound, Polish and Wax to start.
    • The black on the front grill is pealing a little. So I plan on stripping that and repainting it. (any tips?)
    • The tailgate has some rust in the corners, so I'll be looking for a new tailgate. Cobalt Blue Pearl
    • Might need some new leaf springs soon.
I'm going to keep it mainly stock.

Was at the Toyota dealer today picking up some parts. While I was there I asked them to check out my frame for rust perforation. One guy started to look at it and he asked for another guy to come check it out. I got a little worried about what they found, but they both stood up and said it's the cleanest, most solid frame they have seen on a early Tacoma. Whew. I'm relieved to say the least.
