Found this pic on google. Is it usually installed this way or along the bed?

I bought a canopy and use it for camping and I've stayed pretty warm at 35 degrees but now I have a little heater that plugs into the ac outlet and love it I have no complaints about the cold unless it's below 0 degrees and if it's that cold you have to be crazy

I'm 6'2 and have an ac cab, i used to sleep in my truck during breaks between class. I have an 05 with the foldible seats. With the driver, and pass seat moved all the way up i was able to lay down in fetal position because the center console got in the way. Besides that position you really can't sleep in the cab unless your 5', or a midget. It would be better to just make a platform maybe with some fold outs but the center console kills it.

well its basically just a piece of plywood and some padding and i have a bunch of plywood left over from older projects. For now i'll just cover it with bed liner. I might gussy it up with some carpet later haha

Yah its just an over night testing session of the SAE baja car we're building at my school

I removed the rear console, and it looks like i still have a little bit of room behind the front console. But you're talking about the front one right? cuz if i remember my cousin's 07 correctly your ac doesn't have the rear one right?

I spent a week and a half sleeping in the back of my truck last fall. Didn't even use a tarp until the last three nights of the trip, just slept under the stars. The tarp is great for keeping off morning dew, but not so good for actual rain. I'm planning on getting a Softopper so that I can stay dry when it rains, but still sleep under the stars when the sky is clear.

I'd guess that the temperature would be about the same whether in a tarp, tent, or the cab of the truck (unless you plan on sleeping with the engine running). With a good enough sleeping bag, all you need is something to keep you dry.

Perhaps you have the short bed, I'm 6' even, and have no problem sleeping in the bed of my access cab. Just lay diagonally, and it's perfect.... sleeping in the passenger seat? Did that one too, and it's not so comfortable.

That's what a zero or negative degree sleeping bag is for

I have the '07 access cab. When my wife daughter and I went on a road trip to California from Illinois, we lowered the 2 back seats. My wife and I took turns sleeping on an inflatable pool raft with blankets underneath to minimize punctures. It wasn't the greatest comfort, but it worked well so that way we could take turns driving/sleeping to minimize hotel costs. We left the passenger seat to our daughter. I am thinking that a thick pad of some sort would work better than the raft which ended up leaking on the way back. The truck bed held all of our belongings with a best top cover to keep out the rain.

Most of the time i usually just lean the driver seat up, bring it back all the way and tilt the steering wheel up and that is usually pretty comfy for me.

But then again being a college student im pretty use to falling asleep and waking up in uncomfortable strange places. :anonymous:
