Valve adjustment necessary?

    Hello all. I now have 128k on my '05 Tacoma Pre runner with the 1GR-FE. I spin a wrench for a living (diesel truck) and know the importance of well adjusted valves in regards to performance, fuel economy and valve train wear. I have looked all through my maintance manual and found nothing on recommend valve adjustment intervals. I do have some valve train noise (ticking) but have been told by the dealer while under warranty that it is normal noise. The performance is a little sluggish lately, and yes, I have changed the plugs recently.
    Has anyone found an adjustment to be necessary and if so does this engine use valve shims to obtain correct clearance or is it a straight adjuster and lock nut affair? Thanks in advance for your help in this!

    Its a shim under bucket design, but I havent seen them out of spec after 200+ k miles..

    Unless someting is wrong, or it is running rough, no adjustment necessary.

    A friend of mine had 580k miles when he had his done...and they werent that far out of specs....
