Bottom line is, if you want a good price go to your nearest major city (where there is more availability) and find 3 - 5 dealers and find a truck you like. Tell the next dealer to BEAT the price, not just match it. You have to be an asshole or they will walk all over you. I live in Houston and tacomas come by the boat load. I did this strategy and paid 27k for a 33.7k truck.

From Edmunds.com, an appraised Tacoma assuming clean condition is 27,968. I would not put offer more than 27,000 for it personally.

Even if it is 1-2 grand for a new one I would go for it over a used one. Better warranty, you'll know the history of the vehicle, you'll get better interest rates on a loan, the tires alone will last you 15,000 more miles and those alone will set you back 7-900 dollars to replace. With pricing so close I wouldn't bother with used.

Yup, price seems high. Keep in mind with the 2012's coming out, you can get a brand spanking new 2011 for that price. Keep in mind asking price is just that...asking. I would say you should be able to get that truck for about $26,500

At first I thought it was a good price.. Then my dad put it in my head that I should get a new truck. Around here brand new sport DCSB is $30k sticker price. Although that's for the 5-speed.. still a lower starting price than the used one.

If I didn't pay so much in rent i'd be all over the new tacoma. :(

So my advise would be shop around. If you can pay that much on a used get a new one for probably close to that price
