I am going to be installing an aFe catback soon and was wondering if anyone could tell me the correct way to make up the flange where the cat out connects to the muffler inlet pipe (flange with the spring nuts and bolts). Is it a torque or compressing the springs to a certain length ?????

    eh, I stand corrected:

    INSTALLATION
    1. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY FRONT
    (a) Install a new gasket onto the exhaust manifold RH. (b) Install the exhaust front pipe with the new 2 nuts.
    Torque: 62 N*m (632 kgf*cm, 46 ft.*lbf)
    2. INSTALL EXHAUST FRONT PIPE ASSEMBLY NO.2
    (a) Install a new gasket onto the exhaust manifold LH. (b) Install a new gasket onto the exhaust front pipe. (c) Install the exhaust front pipe No. 2 onto the
insulator. (d) Install the exhaust front pipe No. 2 onto the exhaust
manifold LH with the new 2 nuts.
    Torque: 62 N*m (632 kgf*cm, 46 ft.*lbf)
    (e) Install the exhaust front pipe No. 2 onto the exhaust front pipe with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts. Torque: 48 N*m (489 kgf*cm, 35 ft.*lbf)
    (f) Install a new gasket onto the exhaust front pipe No. 2.
    (1) Using a wooden block and plastic- faced hammer, tap in a new gasket until it is flush with the exhaust front pipe No. 2. NOTICE: • Make sure that the gasket is in the
correct direction when installing. • Do not reuse the removed gasket.
    3. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY CENTER
    (a) Check the free length. (1) Using vernier calipers, measure the free length
    of the compression spring.
    Minimum: 40.5 mm (1.594 in.)
If the free length is less than the minimum,
replace the compression spring. (b) Install the exhaust tail pipe onto the 4 insulators. (c) Install the exhaust pipe center onto the exhaust
front pipe No. 2 with the 2 bolts and 2 springs.
    Torque: 43 N*m (438 kgf*cm, 32 ft.*lbf) 4. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (See page EC-
    19)
    5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
    Torque: 3.9 N*m (40 kgf*cm, 35 in.*lbf) 6. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKAGE
