Hey all - I'm a new member and a new Tacoma owner. I've enjoyed reading the posts and look forward to the info gained from the forums. Anyhow, I was wondering if anyone was going the 5k before the first oil change or should I rid the original oil sooner? I'm at 1000 miles now.

Now would be a great time to change it and get any new engine bits out. Then go to 5000 miles during the warranty and you can easily bump it up to 7000 miles ( or more ) using a synthetic oil from that point on.

I just drove mine for the 5,000 then changed it to Mobile 1 after that. I don't see any real reason to change it sooner but I'm sure there are people that prefer to change it sooner.
