As for the HAM/CB discussion, all the other Oregon guys are, "oh, i can't afford one", "oh, mine works, but only for receiving", "hey, I have this walkie talkie". I'm a pioneer with my CB.

Tell me more? I was looking into equipment that could do both HAM and CB but was not very successful on that. PM pls so we don't completely hijack this thread.

Heh it's mostly just taco guys. FJC and non-cherokee Jeep people are decked out.

I think it's worth knowing here

Did your truck come with a single DIN. I wouldn't mind doing that setup except I have the JBL 6 disk w/ no pocket.

It's not a CB. It is a dual band 2m and 70cm capable HAM radio. To transmit you would need an amateur license. You can listen without a license but what fun is that. I have talked to guys as far away as the UK, Germany, south Africa and austrialia.

Does anyone know how to properly attach the firestik stud?
It comes with a nylon washer which I'm sure will interfere if it's on the wrong side of the antenna or ground plane.
Here is my pic. Any thoughts?

How many of yall just hook up your cbs and start using them? Do you use a SWR meter to check to see if there is any adjustments that need to be made to the antenna?

    completely stock
99% of good antennas are pretuned. If your swrs are high it is more likely you dont have a good enough ground plane.

with CB you need at least 36 square inches of "ground" or metal. so attaching to bed rails and having a small gauge wire to the frame wont do it...

swrs too high, you need a bigger ground

A 2 meter for the win... CBs blow. But if you need to choose a CB probably a full sized Cobra.
