I was changing the front diff oil in my 2006 TRD Off Road Tacoma, and there is a skid plate in the way that needs to be removed before you can get to the front diff. I took that off and changed the oil just fine, but when I went to put the skid plate back on, I messed up the threads a little on one of the bolts, so I backed it back out and put the other three in and now I need to run a die on the bolt and a tap in the hole on the truck. BUT... I have no idea what thread size it is, I assume it is metric, but I am having issues identifying it. Really don't want to end up at the stealership for this one, and since my neighbor has a tap & die set I figure this is an easy fix.

I think this is the part number: 90080-11373

Google may have helped me, I think it is a M8x1.25, will be trying this later when my neighbor gets home.

How hard did you crank it before you realised it was cross threaded? It takes a lot of effort to mess up the threads so badly that you need to re-tap it.

I don't think it is cross threaded, I just want to clean up the threads before I try again. I also have a complex with over tightening...

Well if you just want to clean it, just use some WD40 and a wire brush.
