Should be fine. I just carried a 2010 R1 in my 4x4 dcsb without the rear leaf tsb. Carried it just fine . No probs with tailgate either .

Rear leaf suspension. Home done tailgate re-inforcement.
After hearing some stories about big guys (250 LBS and / or more ) standing on the edge of Tacoma tailgates and bending them, I decided to do something about my 05 tailgate before hauling my Honda VFR. That bike comes in at about 500 pounds and I didn't want to chance what may happen when rolling up onto the bed.

So I did this Beef Up
and never worried about it again.

My Thruxton weighs abt 500lbs, got the sag (see the picture), didn't feel safe driving it, and so I decided on getting the TSB. The tailgate is not an issue since my ramp bypasses it.

Don't worry, if you lose the Harley on the highway it will be the perfect excuse to buy a real bike!... Riding that noisy thing must be why you're yelling, lost your hearing?... Just kidding... ;)

Have you installed the extra D-rings on the bed? Four of those should give you enough anchoring strength, get four cam straps with hooks and you should be set. Add a bed extender on the tailgate and you'd be good to go!

Hey, to each their own, it's a free world right? :)

If you have enough D-rings in the bed, and get some good ratchet straps with rubberized hooks, you should be ok. Hardest thing, in my experience is to get the bike up to the bed! Make sure you get some help to get it up and down the ramp, don't want it to get away from you, or worse fall on you!

    Good luck!

as far as the tailgate, I never had a problem loading and unloading my bikes but after reading about it on here I went ahead and reinforced it just to be safe.

Just the regular 4 leaf TSB springs.

That pic is a few years old, when the springs were a little more "springy". Here is one from this summer hauling the bike (420 lbs) and a heavy bag with stand (100+ pounds) back from Wyoming. Also I have Eibach 1.6 springs in the front in this pic so now it sits a little nose high)

    Just found these:

    http://jpmetalfab.com/products.html

Looks like a good product, gives us more tie-down options, especially when putting something low and wide in the bed that might cover the D-rings.

yeah I have a set of them as well as D rings on all the bed bolts (you can't have too many tie down options can ya?). They are great.
