How many miles for a used Tacoma?

Hello all, my first post here. I'm hoping to get a Tacoma in the next month or two (hopefully a double cab TRD Off Road). This will be my first, so I was hoping that you could all answer a rather vague question for me.

How many miles do you think these trucks are good for?

I'm probably not going to be able to afford a new truck, so I'll have to get one a few years older and with a bunch of miles on it already. If I get one that is four or five years old with 50-60,000 miles on it, can I expect it to run for a good 200,000 miles (with regular maintenance, of course).

My current car, I bought used and it already had about 65,000 miles. Right now it's just under 230,000 miles and I've only had it for about six years (and it's sat broken down several different times for about a year and a half total during that time). I put a good 35,000 miles a year on my cars, so I'll blow past any standard dealer warranty in just a couple of years. I intend to run this truck into the ground over the next 10 years, I'm just afraid of buying one that has already been abused.

 

There is a member on this forum who recently turned over 250,000 miles with no major issues.

They're solid. Many people 200k+

 

No timing belt, instead it's a chain, just do reg maintenance, and change fluids. It's not how long the truck will last it's how good can you take care of it. As long as you take care of it it will last you for quite awhile. There still toyota trucks being driven around from the 80's. If your looking for mileage think about 12-15k as the norm per year. If you buy a used truck just change everything all out in maintenance.

I wouldn't buy a high mileage vehicle unless it has all of the service records. I want to know for a fact that it was taken care of. That being said, all of the Toyota cars and trucks in my family going back 30 years have run forever with standard maintenance being done right and on time.
